Project asks Australians to show support for solar power

A community project which aims to ensure the rights of solar owners are protected has been launched nationally today (May 14). Solar Citizens will also aim to encourage the adoption of solar power and wants to see Australia "put a panel on every rooftop." Research team looks at solar for powering skyscrapers

A research team based in Melbourne has received $4 million grant funding for the development of a technology that could enable skyscrapers to be powered entirely by sunlight. Researchers from Swinburne University of Technology and the CSIRO will use funding provided through the Science and Industry Endowment Fund (SIEF) to develop nanoplasmic solar cell technology. Specifically, they will create a small scale pilot project using the patented thin film solar technology known as NanoPlas. NanoPlas was developed at the Victoria-Suntech Advanced Solar Facility.
